Dr. Karina Forde
Presentation: Paediatric vulvar lichen sclerosis
Biography: Dr Karina Forde is a dermatology specialist registrar at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospital NHS trust, UK. She studied medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where she graduated first in her class. She trained in paediatrics and general medicine in Ireland and was awarded her certificate of satisfactory completion of specialist training (CSCST) in Paediatrics in 2020. She has dual memberships with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health UK and the Royal College of Physicians Ireland (General Internal Medicine). During her paediatric training she undertook a clinical fellowship in paediatric dermatology in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, and later trained in paediatric dermatology at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Dublin.
Her clinical and research interests include neurocutaneous and vascular disorders, overgrowth syndromes, inflammatory skin disease, and infectious diseases. She has presented her work nationally and internationally and has authored several publications in high impact journals. She is passionate about teaching and developed teaching modules in paediatric dermatology for the Royal College of Physicians Ireland Professional Diploma in Paediatrics. She is delighted to have been selected as a Future Leader in paediatric dermatology by the executive board of the European Society of Paediatric Dermatology.
