Update on Alopecia Areata - ESPD EXPERTS LECTURE SERIES

ESPD is pleased to announce an expert lecture by Prof. Sherief Janmohamed on September 2nd, at 7 PM (CET).

Professor Sherief Janmohamed (1981, the Netherlands) obtained his MD degree (2006) and PhD degree (2014) at the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. His thesis entitled: 'Infantile Hemangioma: Pathogenesis, Evaluation, and Therapy', was supervised by Prof. Dr. Arnold Oranje. For his work, he has been awarded the ‘Ruggero Caputto's Young Pediatric Dermatologist award’ (2015). From 2014-2018 he was a Resident in Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergy under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Gutermuth at the University Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel), Belgium; and from 2018-2020 he was a post-doctoral fellow at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago IL, USA (Prof. Dr. Jonathan Silverberg; head of Department: Prof. Dr. Amy Paller). Furthermore, he has a MSc degree in Epidemiology and a Master’s degree in Health Sciences.

Currently, Sherief Janmohamed works as a Pediatric Dermatologist within the Multidisciplinary Unit Pediatric Dermatology at the University Hospital Brussels (UZ Brussel) and he has been appointed as professor at the ‘Vrije Universiteit Brussel’. His interests are, among others, atopic dermatitis, hair diseases, and vascular malformations. Furthermore, he is involved in initiatives in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Colombia. Prof. Dr. Sherief Janmohamed is treasurer of the ESPD and associate editor of ‘Pediatric Dermatology’.

Speaker: Dr Pablo Lopez Balboa

Dr Pablo López Balboa is a Paediatrician with a special interest in Paediatric Dermatology. He completed his paediatrics training in Spain, followed by specialised training in paediatric dermatology at Niño Jesús University Children's Hospital in Madrid, Spain, in 2020. In 2021, he joined the paediatric dermatology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children as a senior clinical research fellow, focusing on stem-cell therapy and drug repurposing in genodermatoses. His current work centres on rare skin diseases, biologic therapies, hair disorders, and laser treatments. Collaborator on multiple international projects and regular speaker at international meetings. Awarded FRCPCH in recognition of contributions to the field.

Miloš Nikolić - ESPD EXPERTS LECTURE SERIES - Pityriasis lichenoides in children and adolescents - what should we know? 

ESPD is pleased to announce an expert lecture by  Professor Miloš Nikolić, MD, PhD, FRCP  on December 2nd, at 7 PM (CET).

Miloš Nikolić, MD, PhD, FRCP (Edin), Full Professor and Chairman, Department of Dermatology and Venereology, University of Belgrade School of Medicine, Belgrade, Serbia.

M. Nikolić is also the Head of the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology, Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology, University Clinical Center of Serbia, Belgrade.

He was the Secretary General (1990–1994) and the President (2001–2005) of the Dermatovenereology Section of the Serbian Medical Society.

He was the President of the Serbian Association of Dermatovenereologists from 2011 to 2015.

M. Nikolić was a member of the Board of Directors of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) 2014-2019. Chairman of the Honours and Awards Committee of the EADV 2019-2023, and Chairman of the EADV Statutes and Development Committee (2023-present). Member of the Board of Directors of the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology (ESPD) 2004-2022 and 2026-present.

Elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh – FRCP (Edin), since February 2023.

M. Nikolić was the Associate Editor of the journal Dermatologic Therapy (Dermatol Ther) 2020-2025 and he is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Dermatology (Int J Dermatol). Reviewer of many manuscripts in many JCR-indexed journals.

The main fields of scientific interest and work of M. Nikolić are vasculitides, lupus erythematosus, autoimmune bullous diseases, alopecia areata, and pediatric dermatology.  He has authored or co-authored more than 100 scientific papers (2382 citations, h-index 26, i10-index 56), as well as many book chapters and several books. He is the principal investigator in scientific projects financed by the Serbian Ministry of Science and investigator in several international scientific projects.

M. Nikolić was an invited speaker and chairman in numerous sessions in many international (European, Euro-Asian, World) and national congresses and symposia.
