Speaker: Dr Pablo Lopez Balboa

Dr Pablo López Balboa is a Paediatrician with a special interest in Paediatric Dermatology. He completed his paediatrics training in Spain, followed by specialised training in paediatric dermatology at Niño Jesús University Children's Hospital in Madrid, Spain, in 2020. In 2021, he joined the paediatric dermatology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children as a senior clinical research fellow, focusing on stem-cell therapy and drug repurposing in genodermatoses. His current work centres on rare skin diseases, biologic therapies, hair disorders, and laser treatments. Collaborator on multiple international projects and regular speaker at international meetings. Awarded FRCPCH in recognition of contributions to the field.

Ludovic Martin - ESPD EXPERTS LECTURE SERIES -  Healthcare simulation for paediatric dermatology - where do we stand?

ESPD is pleased to announce an expert lecture by Prof. Ludovic Martin on November 4th, at 7 PM (CET).

Prof. Ludovic MARTIN (b. 1969, France) obtained his MD degree in 1998 and his PhD in 2007. Following his appointment to the Faculty of Health Sciences in Angers, France, in 2007, he progressively focused, and subsequently devoted his clinical activity exclusively, to paediatric dermatology and dermatogenetics. His particular area of expertise is inherited connective tissue disorders, with a specific focus on pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), for which he coordinates the French Reference Centre.

In 2018, he had the opportunity to succeed Professor Jean-Claude Granry as Head of All’Sims, the Health Simulation Centre in Angers University (www.all-sims.fr). Healthcare simulation encompasses a range of educational tools and techniques designed to train healthcare professionals in a risk-free environment for patients, who are not directly involved in simulated scenarios and are instead replaced by actors, mannequins, virtual avatars, or other simulation modalities. This new area of activity, which currently accounts for approximately 50% of his professional time, involves substantial teaching commitments, as well as research aimed at demonstrating the value and effectiveness of simulation-based education, both for healthcare professionals and, most importantly, for improving patient care in real-world clinical settings.

His current work also focuses on transferring these educational approaches to patients themselves, particularly within the framework of modernised therapeutic patient education. Indeed, Prof. Martin aims at contributing actively to promote healthcare simulation in the fields of paediatric dermatology and genetics.

His lecture will provide an overview of the various modalities of healthcare simulation and present the initiatives undertaken in the field of paediatric dermatology / dermatogenetics.

Miloš Nikolić - ESPD EXPERTS LECTURE SERIES - Pityriasis lichenoides in children and adolescents - what should we know? 

ESPD is pleased to announce an expert lecture by  Professor Miloš Nikolić, MD, PhD, FRCP  on December 2nd, at 7 PM (CET).

Miloš Nikolić, MD, PhD, FRCP (Edin), Full Professor and Chairman, Department of Dermatology and Venereology, University of Belgrade School of Medicine, Belgrade, Serbia.

M. Nikolić is also the Head of the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology, Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology, University Clinical Center of Serbia, Belgrade.

He was the Secretary General (1990–1994) and the President (2001–2005) of the Dermatovenereology Section of the Serbian Medical Society.

He was the President of the Serbian Association of Dermatovenereologists from 2011 to 2015.

M. Nikolić was a member of the Board of Directors of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) 2014-2019. Chairman of the Honours and Awards Committee of the EADV 2019-2023, and Chairman of the EADV Statutes and Development Committee (2023-present). Member of the Board of Directors of the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology (ESPD) 2004-2022 and 2026-present.

Elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh – FRCP (Edin), since February 2023.

M. Nikolić was the Associate Editor of the journal Dermatologic Therapy (Dermatol Ther) 2020-2025 and he is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Dermatology (Int J Dermatol). Reviewer of many manuscripts in many JCR-indexed journals.

The main fields of scientific interest and work of M. Nikolić are vasculitides, lupus erythematosus, autoimmune bullous diseases, alopecia areata, and pediatric dermatology.  He has authored or co-authored more than 100 scientific papers (2382 citations, h-index 26, i10-index 56), as well as many book chapters and several books. He is the principal investigator in scientific projects financed by the Serbian Ministry of Science and investigator in several international scientific projects.

M. Nikolić was an invited speaker and chairman in numerous sessions in many international (European, Euro-Asian, World) and national congresses and symposia.
