Dr. Regina Fölster-Holst is Professor at the Department for Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology at the Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, Germany. She obtained her medical degree at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität, Kiel and is board certified in dermatology and allergology. She was the president of the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology (ESPD) from May 2016-June 2018.

She is the president of the German Dermatology Association (DDG) since May 2019. Since 2017 she is the vice president of the European Society for Educational Crisis.

Her scientific focuses are Pediatric Dermatology, allergic diseases and parasitoses, whereas the main topic is on clinical and scientific research of atopic dermatitis in early childhood.

Prof. Dr. Regina Fölster-Holst has received numerous awards, such as the Hans-Karrer-Förderpreis (medical brochure for children) in 1997, the “Preis der Hensel Stiftung” (1998), the Teaching Award of the Medical Faculty of Kiel (2003), and the German scientific award for communication (2012) and the Perle-Award 2013 (Award for improvement of student teaching).

Ramon Grimalt, MD, PhD (Terrassa, Spain 1965), Licensed in Medicine and Surgery (1989), Specialist in Dermatology (1994) (UNESCO code 320106), Doctor (PhD) in Medicine and Surgery (1995) and Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Barcelona (2000) and Associated Professor, Senior Lecturer and Coordinator Professor of Dermatology at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (2012)

His PhD thesis obtained the highest punctuation under the title:  “Non Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis in children  (...) 153 cases”

He has trained in the University of Barcelona (Spain), University of Illinois (USA) and Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy).

He worked as an expert member of the (SCCP) Scientific Committee for Consumer Products at the European Community in Bruxelles (2004-2008).

Main interest

is atopic dermatitis, haemangioma, vascular malformations, genetic diseases, genodermatoses, keratin disorders, skin infections, severe pediatric disorders.

She is especially designed for training medical staff and parents-patients for Atopy School. She actively took part in creating the former ESPD website (www.espd.info), training of pediatricians, pediatric dermatologists, nurses, organising international and Hungarian congresses, organising postgraduate courses.

Education

Graduated in Medical Faculty of Semmelweis University Budapest (1985); qualified in Pediatrics (1992) Qualified in Dermatology (993/1995) at Semmelweis University Budapest. Started to work at Heim Pál Children’s National Institute Budapest (1994) and Chief of the department from 2000.         

PhD thesis : Scolarship in Genetics were performed in 1994 Hungarian Genetic Institute; the PhD program followed at the Semmeilweis University Human Genetic Research lab. The main topic was the Keratin 9 mutations in keratinocyte disorders.

Habilitation thesis: Finishing the habilitation thesis, in 2013 entitled “Treatment of hemangioma-vascular malformations in pediatric age – importance of beta-blocker treatment”, her habiliation process had been completed in 2013. The first use of beta blockers for hemangiomas in Hungary started in 2008 in HPC Hospital. Honorary professorship had been given in 2015 by the University of Szeged.

Last publications:

The hungarian textbook of Pediatric Dermatology had been published in 2019.

Memberships: Honorary member of  ESPD, secretary from 2005-2007; president from 2007-2009. Board member of the Hungarian Society of Dermatology; Head of the Workshop for Pediatric Dermatology of  Hungarian Society of Dermatology; Member of Editorial Board of different Journals, former member of Clinical Investigator Board, and scientific board of Heim Pál Children’s Hospital; Member of EADV, ISAD, ETFAD EDF. former Member of the Scientific Board of the ESPD.

Honours, professional activity: She had been awarded the Kaposi medal in 2009. Honorary member of the Serbian Society for Dermatovenerology. She organised the ESPD Congress Budapest in 2005. She is organising the Advanced Fostering Courses for PD. She takes part in studies, guidelines, book chapters, organising the Hungarian PD congresses.

Speaker: Dr. Mary Glover

Mary Glover is a consultant in Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.  She trained in medicine at Cambridge University, and then in paediatrics, dermatology and paediatric dermatology in London. In recent years her clinical work has increasingly been focussed on vascular tumours, malformations and overgrowth.

She is ESPD treasurer, and on the ESPD training committee.
