Welcome from The ESPD President

Dear Friends, dear Colleagues, dear Reader,

Welcome to our website, welcome to the European Society for Pediatric Dermatology. Our new website is the last addition to a series of recent innovations of our Society and gives me the opportunity to report on them. During the past six years I had the chance to serve first as a Secretary and since 2014 as President of the ESPD. During this period we introduced new statutes accepted in 2012 in Istanbul replacing the original and outdated ones from 1983.
The new statutes preserved our open-minded membership rules, but set the base for yearly scientific ESPD meetings and the need for by-laws regulating our actions. A task force with Zsuzsa Szalai, Regina Fölster-Holst, Deniz Yücelten, Arnold Oranje, Dirk Van Gysel, and myself met in 2014 in Brussels, and finalized the internal rules accepted last year in Lausanne. They set the stage for yet another step, the liaison with C-IN, a professional association and congress management with its headquarters in Prague.
Our collaboration with C-IN was kicked off last fall in Geneva and led to diverse new activities: This new website was created for better visibility, a mobile friendly technology and efficient membership management; we now organize meetings yearly as prime activity of our society allowing for continuous interaction within the ESPD and a better cooperation with industrial partners: in Paris May 26 to 28, 2016, in Palma de Mallorca October 5 to 7, 2017 and in London June 7 to 9, 2018; and we finally established the EURO-PEDRA initiative for a more scientific focus of our activities in pediatric dermatology and will also gather at annual ESDR meetings. So please note September 7, 2016 in Munich in your agenda.
Our aim is to promote at best the interests of the ESPD and to serve the ESPD and its members. We are proud to assist this European collaboration and to boost its interactions necessary for the development of clinical and scientific quality in the ESPD. Together we can provide excellence in patient care through research! So please contribute to our development, become active in our society and join the ESPD if you are not yet a member. As the President of the ESPD I stand for objective measures, strict democratic rules and full transparency.
Yours sincerely,
Daniel Hohl, M.D.
President of the ESPD
