The 17th ESPD Annual Meeting, Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 19 – 21 October 2017 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 14 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). The CME Certificate will be distributed electronically after the Meeting to all participants who fill and hand over the Meeting Evaluation Form. Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) or Aeropuerto de Palma de Mallorca (Son Sant Joan Airport) is located approximately 8 km east to Palma city. Reserve 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure to travel to the airport, to check-in, go through security and to the gates as the airport is extensive. Taxi is the best connection to the airport (estimated cost EUR 25).
Name badge shall be worn at all times when attending the sessions and official programme.
Banks and credit cards
Almost all credit and debit cards are accepted on the island and most banks have cash points. There are banking institutions in all towns and villages. In tourist areas, there are also bureaux de change.
The nearest ATM is located approximately 300 metres from the Meliá Palas Atenea hotel – ATM Targobank (Avinguda de Gabriel Roca, 33).
Certificate of Attendance
All registered and attending participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance via e-mail after the Meeting.
Delegates staying outside of the Meliá Palas Atenea hotel should refer to the hotel concierge to store coats, umbrellas etc. Please kindly note that no storage for poster cases is available.
Coffee Breaks will be held in the foyer of the Floor Mezzanine 1 and Mercurio and Urano rooms.
The Meeting Organisers have taken all reasonable care in making arrangements for the Meeting. In the event of unforeseen disruptions, neither the organisers nor their agents can be held responsible for any losses or damages incurred by delegates. The programme is correct at the time of printing, but organisers reserve the right to alter the programme if and when deemed necessary. The Meeting Organisers act as agents only in securing hotels, transport and travel services, and shall in no event be liable for acts or commissions in the event of injury, damage, loss, accident delay or irregularity of any kind whatsoever during arrangements organised through contractors or by the employees of such contractors. Hotel and transportation services are subject to the terms and conditions under which they are offered to the general public. Delegates should make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance. The Meeting Organisers reserve the right to make changes as and when deemed necessary, without prior notice to the parties concerned. All disputes are subject to resolution under Czech Law.
Doctor / First Aid
First aid is not available at the venue. In case of emergency, please refer to the hotel reception and ask for assistance.
The power supply in Spain is 220-225 volts, though some hotels still have 100 – 120 volt inlets. Sockets accept two-round-pin style plugs, so an adaptor is needed for most non-continental appliances and a transformer for appliances operating on 100-120 volts.
The Meeting Evaluation Form will be sent by email to all registered delegates and will be available at the Meeting website for download or printed at the Registration Desk (Ground Floor). The CME Certificate will be issued only for participants who fill in and hand over the form either electornically or in paper.
Insurance and Liability
The Organisers will accept no liability for personal injuries sustained or for loss or damage to property belongings of Meeting participants, accompanying persons either during or as a result of the Meeting or during the accompanying programme. Participants are strongly recommended to seek insurance coverage for health and accident, lost luggage and trip cancellation.
Guests staying in the Meliá Palas Atenea hotel can use the Wi-Fi connection provided by the hotel, otherwise no free Wi-Fi connection will be provided to the Meeting participants.
Language of the Meeting
The official language of the 17th ESPD Annual Meeting is English. All lectures will be delivered in English and no interpretation is provided.
Lost & Found
A lost and found service is available at the Registration Desk (Ground Floor).
Lunches are not included in the registration fees and as such will not be provided to the Meeting participants. Snacks and refreshments can be purchased in the hotel Lobby Bar, Pool Bar or the nearby restaurants.
Participants are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones in the silent mode in the meeting rooms while sessions are being held.
For all Plenary Sessions held in the Acrópolis meeting room there will be an overflow available in the Atenea meeting room.
Nearest pharmacy is located approximately 450 metres from the Meliá Palas Atenea hotel – Farmacia Miquel (Avinguda de Joan Miró, 17).
Poster Area is located on the Floor Mezzanine 1 of Meliá Palas Atenea in Saturno, Marte and Júpiter meeting rooms.
The Meeting Organisers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to the external or unforeseen circumstances.

Registration Desk is located in the central part of the lobby on the Ground Floor.
A small shop with daily utilities and souvenirs is located just outside of the Meliá Palas Atenea hotel.
Please note that smoking is not permitted in the Meeting areas and public areas of the hotel.
Speakers’ Preview Room
Speakers’ Preview Room is located on the Ground Floor in the Menphis meeting room and will be available in the following times:
Thursday, 19 October – 10:00 – 19:15
Friday, 20 October – 8:00 – 18:30
Saturday, 21 October – 7:30 – 13:30
Presentations must be handed over to the personnel either with a CD or a USB stick, as far in advance as possible and TWO hours BEFORE the start of entire session, where the presentation is to be displayed, AT THE LATEST. The presentation for an early morning session should be handed over the evening before.
Journeys within the city cost approximately 15 EUR and to the airport approximately 25 EUR.
VAT (IVA in Spain)
Keep an eye out for the appearance of extra costs on your bill. Some hoteliers, restaurateurs and shopkeepers include VAT (IVA) currently at 21%, in the price, others don't. It is worth checking the menu to see whether it will be included or added. It is not compulsory to include VAT in prices quoted but you should be aware of the possible hidden cost or the bargain meal you thought you had found might not turn out to be such good value after all.
